v0.3.1 - Bugfixes & Minor Additions


Unless any major bugs are found, this will be the final minor update for v0.3. I'm confident I've fixed all the worst bugs (and most of the minor ones), and I've nudged balance here and there. Any larger-scale balance changes will be waiting until the next major update.

As usual, I'll be taking a short break before starting on v0.4. However, this one will be slightly different. Balance is becoming increasingly difficult to manage, especially since I want to keep multiple routes/strategies viable. It's become obvious that I need an automated tool to help me judge the current balance, so that I can make a change and very easily see what actual impact that change has on the amount of time/number of loops needed to reach a given point following different routes.

Once it's done it'll make balance much easier to reliably judge, meaning less time spent testing/balancing each bit of new content and less post-release balance changes as issues are suddenly found. The bad news is that it's unlikely to be a quick/easy tool to build. This, coupled with how long it's taken to get 0.3 released/stable and the fact that I have a holiday booked for early May makes it unlikely that the next major update will be done in time for a May release. I will still try to get it done in time (possibly aiming for a slightly smaller update if that fits better), but my current expectation is that the next major update may well be delayed until June.

For now though, here's the changelog for v0.3.1. I have done a couple of bugfixes since the v0.3.0 release which were too minor to write devlogs for, so if you'd like to see the details of those, check out the full patch notes on the Discord.

  • Remove Power Cell now available in Talos after repairing power systems (and discovering rover power)
  • Unique death message if you lie in your pod after waking up
  • Reduced base time for inspecting the dam control booth
  • Added combined action for driving to the lost rover, getting supplies and driving back
  • Added alt logs for reaching the dam on time/too late and with/without the codes
  • Added an alt death message if you die at the dam after being too late
  • Added alt 'rover out of power' log if you run out while trying to find the Talos-Dam route
  • 'Gather Supplies From Outside' action is now hidden if you already manually left and collected them
  • Added an 'Inspect Rover Charger' action to Talos after you discover rover power

Fixes

  • Parking in Talos now only requires *either* finding the tunnel or discovering rover power, not both
  • Resource hover tips no longer say 'lasts forever' when the resource is full but draining (went into negative but immediately paused)
  • Fixed potential crash when loading saves in a certain format
  • Typos
